Are you ready to make a change? There are certain conditions that favor making real and lasting change.
Are You Fed Up?
You have to have a certain level of discomfort. A tipping point when you just can’t take it any more. Staying the same just isn’t worth it any more. You are willing to face the discomfort of trying something new. We shy away from change, even if we think it’s good for us, because it’s unfamiliar and unpredictable. Problems are by definition in the known. Think about it and you will notice that the best things in your life came from the unknown.
What’s the Condition of Your Hope?
If hope were a patient in the hospital, what would the prognosis be? Locate your hope. It may be hiding for fear of disappointment. Even despair has an element of hope in it. It signals that you think that life could be better. Though you don’t know where you will land when you make a change, you have to believe that better is possible.
What? Not How.
Focus on what you want, what you want to feel, and what you want to believe. Don’t get caught up in how. Asking the “how question” too early sinks dreams before you get a chance to fully imagine them. You don’t know how to do new things because you haven’t done them yet. But you can figure it out. That’s what you are going to learn through the process of change. Give yourself time to focus in on your vision before you worry about how to get from here to there.
